Forest Festival

Finally got the pictures added.

I am going to the Forest Festival in Buchannan next week for work. I am riding with Debbie we will leave work on Wednesday around noon and stay until Saturday afternoon. We have reservations at the Elk Motor Lodge. I have never stayed there. We tried to get a room once when George and I had taken Mikael and Ashley to ride the Cass train but they were booked up. I am surprised at this late date we got reservations considering the festival and the fall leaf peepers.

It is probably going to make me more depressed to go up there this time of year, but I have to go. Will try to make it a good exprience.

2 New Pictures

Week end

Didn't leave the house all week end. It mostly rained anyway. Saturday I cooked a pot of beans and then Gail made hot bolognas to eat with them for dinner. Sunday Gail and Lawrence made us all a big breakfast and I fixed a roast and stuff for dinner. Gail got out the Halloween decorations. I think she has most of mine. If any of it is left over I might make some vegetable beef soup. I also have been wanting to make cheese potato soup and some cornbread. I love the cooler weather.

I have been gathering ideas to make some inexpensive Christmas presents. Mikael could make all of her gifts she is so creative. I actually have just about finished my Christmas shopping for Mikael. So far I have bought her a hair straightener (with a ceramaic plate), a charm bracelet, purse and stuff from Body & Bath, a trinket box, a Dolphin, plenty of makeup, PJ's and some other little things I can't remember. I need to concentrate on the twins next.

The kitten messed in Mikael's room again and she gagged and gagged cleaning it up. The last time I cleaned it up for her when she starting the gagging business, but not this time.

Hair cuts

Brenda was just telling me about her little granddaughter cutting off one side of her hair up to her scalp I told her I was sorry but I have to laugh it seems like most all kids cut their hair sometime or other around that age. I will never forget when Ashley cut hers she was 4 and it was the first time I ever watched her without George being around. So that was a great start! It was a Saturday and he had to work a half day and I watched her. She had just about all morning been sitting in her chair reading I never saw her with the scissors. We didn't even know it until Pam came home. Then Sheila cut hers about the same age and told her Mommy that Billy did it. So here comes Kay ready for war and Billy had been in the house all morning. Thank Goodness! Sheila finally admitted she had done it. Then Markie he had the most beautiful blond hair with 2 big curls on his forehead, just beautiful. He just whacked the curls off one day. Dee cried when she walked into the bathroom and saw the curls laying there. He said he was tired of the curls. We make sure the scissors are always up who knows what the twins might do to themselves or each other. Neither Billy nor Gail ever cut theirs so I don't have a story on them.

WHY???

Why do I do things to myself that I know is going to send me into a deep dark funk? I sat here and started looking at Ocracoke pictures knowing fully well what it would do to me. Why do I do that?? Why purposely make myself feel worse? I have to stay away from that if I want to ever feel better!

On Monday Billy started having a nose bleed really bad. He went to the hospital and then called me at work said Gail was supposed to come over to his house and he couldn't get hold of her. He was trying to warn her because he said there was blood eveywhere even down the steps and on the front door. It makes me laugh now to think about how Gail would have reacted. I am sure she would have thought he had been murdered and would have called the police. His BP was extremely high and he had not been taking his medications, they were not sure what caused the bleed. They packed it and kept him until his BP started going down some. Then that night he had to go back because it started again. He was there that time until 2:00 AM. On Tuesday it bled some but quit and then yesterday he had to go back for them to check it. His BP was down thank goodness. They took the packing out of his nose and cauterized it. He felt much better after that because he could not breathe too well with the packing they had put in.

The Dirty Nose Kitten

There is a house down toward Go Mart with "stray" kittens under the porch? The Momma cat has a home but when she had the kittens (4) she moved them down to this house under the porch. Her owner moved them back once but she took them right back down there. So I guess after that the owner left them alone, although the Momma goes home to eat. Different people have feed the kitties from time to time. However there is a white one with a black nose. As soon as Grace saw it she fell in love. She calls it "the kitty with the dirty nose". She talks about it every day and told me one day "I want that dirty nose kitty so bad". Gail doesn't know what to do. She doesn't really need another cat. All of the others have been taken now so I guess Grace is the only one that wanted the dirty nose kitten. It is a very cute kitten with pretty blue eyes, but it is wild. Gail and others have still been feeding it but it won't come to any of them.

Funerals and stuff

I am sleepy sleepy sleepy ! I have to keep getting up so I don't fall and crack my head on the desk! I absolutely hate being like this.

Right after Cindy W got here today her husband called her and told her that her brother had committed suicide. We have no idea who may have called him but apparently the rest of her family had not been notified. She said he left a note but of course she didn't know yet what was in it. She just went all to pieces. You know Cindy she is usually kind of reserved, but she totally lost it when he called. He had to come and picked her up. She said he was about 5 years younger than she is and they have a sister younger than them. She works at St. Francis. I assume they were going to tell her. It made me feel so bad for her. She said she didn't have any idea what was so wrong that he felt the need for that. You just never know all that is on a person's mind. She said if she didn't call us today she would try and call to tomorrow. I will have to at least go to the visitation, if they have one. Maybe Kathy and I could go together. She told me she didn't have any idea when she would be back to work and that most likely it would fall on her to take care of everything (he wasn't married). I told her not to even think about work. Both of Cindy's daughters are getting married at the 1st of the year and she has been busy and happy helping them get stuff done. They both came in last month and Cindy took vacation so they could get a bunch of things done.

We went to the funeral home Friday night for Bob's Mom. Bob was pretty upset. They were leaving to go back home this morning. She said she would try to get over one day to see us but she didn't make it. I left her cell number here at work and could not even call them. I am worried about Bob now. I emailed Brenda Lee when I got here this morning but she had not talked to them since before the funeral Saturday. She tried to call her once but didn't get an answer so now she is worried. She worries about him so much anyway that my telling her he was very upset was not a smart thing to do. She will not stop trying to call now until she gets an answer but on the other hand if something was terribly wrong surely we would have heard. I should have gone to the funeral. Bob has had heart surgery 3 times and lots of other problems and Brenda Lee worries herself to death over him.

Gail had a cookout Sunday. It was so good. She barbequed ribs and chicken. I made cole slaw, macaroni salad and a desert. She made deviled eggs and put some smashed up avocado in them. They were delicious. I think those were the best ribs I had ever had. Lawrence told her how to make them. Treva made a hot cole slaw but I didn't like it too much. He said they were good too. Yesterday we mostly just lay around I kept expecting Dee to come by. We got up early and I had asked for pancakes and bacon for breakfast. I used to seldom eat pancakes but she makes the best ones. She went with Mikael to volley ball practice and I watched the twins. It looked like rain but it never did but it has been raining most of today. Yesterday evening we took the twins for a walk. Actually they rode their trikes and we walked. It was nice out not too hot. We walked around the neighborhood looking at everyone's yard and then went to Fas Chek. Gail got her ribs at Aldi's. She said they were so much cheaper there but she didn't know before how good they were.

Cap

Dee's Mother in law, Captiola (Cap) Shaffer died Tuesday night. She was 87. Had emergenecy gall bladder slurgery Monday night and did not recover. Dee and Bob were driving up from Florida, I suppose they are here now. I am leaving at noon so I will have plenty of time to get ready for this evening.
